Follow-up Post on Cisco Training

This is a follow-up post on my previous article on Cisco training and how you can benefit from it. I remember my cousin who took BS in Information Technology at a prestigious university in Manila. She’s in the United States now and working at a computer company.

I also remember that after graduation, she was required to train at Cisco for the networking side of her course. Her training after graduation is actually a supplement to her training as a student. This is because part of their curriculum is an on-the-job training (OJT) at Cisco. Her training extended after school. And you know what? It served her well. She got a good job in the United States easily and shortly after her arrival there. She went there for her masters.

A Cisco certification is truly amazing. It has proven its worth to many professionals who have earned it from one of the world’s best (if not the best). The potential for career growth and development is enormous because when someone gets a certification from Cisco, that is something to be proud of already.

Cisco’s certification path include: Routing and Switching, Design, Security, Service Provider, Storage Networking, Voice and Wireless. Completing these certification could be the start of a great career for the IT professional. These are significant in enhancing your skills and hrmmm… resume. obtaining these certifications can get you somewhere the corporate ladder, i tell you. I Know because a close relative has experienced it.

For me, I had my trainings in networking also back in 1997. Although I did not obtain my certifications from Cisco, I fully understand the importance of having been trained well. Trainings earn trust. If you want to impress your employers and clients, you should be able to prove that you’ve got what it takes for them to trust you.

What you learn in school is just the basics of the theoretical part, and not even that is as it should be in most schools. That’s why following the training provided by Cisco is so much praised, every employer knows that just sitting on the school’s benches doesn’t prepare you for the real work you have to do, they just fill your head with a lot of theory that you don’t know yet how to apply, and that’s where cisco comes into play with its training camps and certifications.
