Today is Philippine Independence Day

Ilocos Norte and the whole country celebrates the 110th Independence Day of the Philippines today (June 12). It does not signify full independence though. It only meant that we are celebrating the 110th year of being free from the Spanish rule. Who rules the Philippines now? The Americans? Most probably. History shows that this country has been abused and used by other nations one way or another.
In passing government offices the whole day, all the employees we’ve seen were wearing red. I’m not sure if this is the color of the day or the color of the occasion. Government employees here wear different color of uniforms depending on the day of the week.
In my personal view, is there something to celebrate?
