Most Filipinos Don’t Own Their Houses

That is correct. With over 85M in population, most Filipinos in the Philippines are deprived of the three basic needs of men: food, shelter and clothing. Well, it’s not startling. In fact, here in the Philippines, these things are common knowledge.
The housing programs of the government are not working. Many Filipinos are still homeless. Even this blogger only rents an apartment in Ilocos Norte and you know what? The monthly rent is truly killing me. An apartment worth two thousand pesos per month is not easy to maintain because there are other items that need to be paid every end of the month like electric bills, water bills, food, medicine, etc.
What is then the probability that a Filipino who are categorically below the poverty line can have his dream house if his income is not even sufficient to sustain his personal needs? For many, a home mortgage is the solution. Well, I have to admit the government provides housing loans through the PAGIBIG and Social Security System (SSS) but they are only good for government employees. For SSS members, I’m not quite sure if they can avail of any housing loan from SSS but for PAGIBIG member, they can (because members are all government employees). Please provide any correction here if I committed any mistake.

With the continuing rise of all commodities now. More and more Filipinos will be homeless. People will spend their hard earned money mostly for daily food needs.
We’re getting hard time at this time to invest on our dream house.
