Independence Day in the Philippines Moved to June 9
The Independence Day in my country (Philippines) has always been celebrated since its declaration in 1898 on the 12th of June.
This year, under the Gloria Macapagal Arroyo administration, the schedule was moved today (June 9). Many Filipinos have observed that this president has been very active in doing one thing - moving holidays.
I’m not sure what’s wrong with this government. Instead of creating and implementing policies that will alleviate poverty, the administration does nothing but move schedules of ancient origin (see, the declaration of Independence Day has been more than 100 years past). Goodness!
