Householdwares for Home Improvement
The Filipino culture used to be one of the most sensitive cultures in the world when it comes to setting the dining table - the plates and other utensils must be clean and in proper order.
Older moms are also very keen on householdwares like spoons, forks, silver plated flatware, and many other things relative to the kitchen. It used to be a part of the culture (based on history about Spanish influence) that when very important people (VIP’s) come to visit a house in the Philippines, all the best items and attention must be given to the visitor. At one time the the Filipinos were branded as one of the most hospitable people on the planet.
At the sala, I also remember my grandmother encasing our pictures in sterling silver frames. They were really nice to us by using precious metals in encasing our baby photos. My grandparents’ house was very neat and classy. A conventional Filipino home. They were affluent during their prime.
The thing that I cannot forget old Filipino grandparents and the strength of influence their Spanish ancestors had on them was their way of entertaining their visitors inside the kitchen. They will serve the best food and even take the gold banded dinnerware out just to make the visitor feel very important and accepted by the family.
Oh well, old Filipino culture was so good. Right now, I really doubt if anybody will still do that to their visitors.
