Wordpress 2.5 is Out

With a 42-day interval from the release of Wordpress 2.3.3, here comes Wordpress 2.5 for bloggers. Updates have become more frequent than expected. When I started blogging in October, the Wordpress I used was 2.3.1. In less than five months, the version has reached 2.5. Whewww!!!

The sneak peak at the official wordpress site tells that some new features include a customizable dashboard, multi-file upload, built-in galleries, one-click plugin upgrades, tag management, built-in Gravatars, full text feeds, and faster load times sound interesting? Then WordPress 2.5 might be the release for you. It’s been in the oven for a while, and we’re finally ready to open the doors a bit to give you a taste, according to the authors.

The features sound enticing enough to give an upgrade a try. But the question whenever an upgarde is offered to bloggers using Wordpress is compatibility. Are the old plugins compatible with the new Wordpress? At times it’s better to search for plugins that are upgraded for an older Wordpress version than to look for plugins that will work with the new version. This, among other things, is my reason for NOT upgrading to the new Wordpress version. I might as well wait a little while before the new version is tested for compatibility, stability and most of all, security. For now I’ll stick with my Wordpress 2.3.3.

However, if you’re too concerned about upgrades, you might as well see more details of the new features of Wordpress 2.5. Here is the link to the new Wordpress release.

I am annoyed with the frequency of updates. I’m not really sure what the hell is going on with these updates
